| China has been a strong support for South Sudan in terms of its economic and social development in recent years.This report is based on the experience of interpreting at a lecture of "Highway Maintenance Operation and Management" of 2018 Training Program for Highway Managerial Staff from South Sudan.The author,a student majoring in English Interpreting,applied for a position of an interpreter for this program and after a successful trial test,she had the honor to be selected by Professor Hou Pingping,head of the Translation and Interpreting Department of Shandong University,as one of the interpreters for the program.During interpreting,the author applied some strategies under the guidance of Skopos Theory to cope with the problems encountered.The report is composed of five chapters.Chapter One presents an introduction of the program the author worked for,including the background information,participants of the program and her preparations for the program.In Chapter Two,Skopos Theory is depicted,including its development and the three rules,namely the skopos rule,the coherence rule and the fidelity rule.Chapter Three carries on the case analysis covering the problems encountered and corresponding tactics in relation to Skopos Theory.Chapter Four is about feedbacks as well as self-reflection.Finally,in the conclusion part,this report points out that interpreters should adapt themselves well and adopt appropriate strategies under the guidance of Skopos Theory in accordance with different situations to ensure a better performance. |
