Research On The Image Design Of Chinese Female Characters In International Chinese Textbooks From The Perspective Of National Image Construction

As an external manifestation of a country's comprehensive strength,national image not only belongs to the field of communication,international relations politics and other disciplines,but also is an important topic of Chinese international communication.As one of the important dimensions of national image construction,citizen image is presented mainly through Chinese characters in international Chinese textbooks in the process of international communication of Chinese language.Therefore,from the perspective of national image construction,it is of great significance to research the influence of characters image design on national image construction in current international Chinese textbooks.This paper takes the image design of Chinese female characters in international Chinese textbooks as the research object,makes a diachronic and synchronic comparative study of the image design of Chinese female characters in four international Chinese textbooks by using documentation and data statistics,and summarizes the similarities and differences.Through the above analysis,we find out that although the design of Chinese female characters in textbooks is still at a disadvantage compared with the design of Chinese male characters in general,the design of Chinese female characters basically conforms to the current Chinese social reality,and has a positive impact on the construction of China's national image.At the same time,some Chinese female characters design in the international Chinese textbooks also reflects that the compilers of international Chinese textbooks did not pay enough attention to the design of characters and its impact on the construction of national images.This paper also examines the problems existing in the design of Chinese female characters in the four textbooks.The compilers of the textbooks should pay enough attention to the naming,number,frequency of occurrence,appearance design,dispositiondesign and background design of Chinese female characters.In addition,based on the perspective of national image construction,the paper puts forward new ideas of the image design of Chinese female characters in international Chinese textbooks:(1)To be objective,the compilers should follow the principle of authenticity and objectivity to design the Chinese female characters and handle their "positive image" and "negative image" properly;(2)To be active,textbook compilers should accurately grasp the mission of international Chinese teaching,and use textbook characters to build positive national image;(3)To be targeted,the compiler should design the image of the female characters targeting the misunderstanding of Chinese female by foreign people.We hope that future Chinese textbooks will not only become an important tool for foreign students to learn Chinese well,but also an important window to demonstrate China's good image.
