Authentic materials are the language materials used by native speakers for communication,rather than those designed for language teaching purposes in the target language country.With the development of communicative approach in the 1970 s,authentic materials have been widely used in second language teaching.Authentic materials can supplement the content of teaching materials,help Chinese learners prepare for communication in the real environment,stimulate their interest in learning,increase their confidence in Chinese learning skills and Chinese culture,and thus improve teaching efficiency and learning effect.In recent years,people begin to pay attention to the application of authentic materials in TCSL.Aimed at studying spoken Chinese teaching,the paper selects a class,designing eight spoken Chinese teaching activities based on authentic materials.According to students' Chinese proficiency and learning needs,a small part of a wide variety of authentic materials is selected.In one semester,eight spoken Chinese teaching activities were implemented as expected.During the activities,students' performance was observed and recorded.According to the scoring table,students' spoken Chinese output was graded.Also,the study will test students in mid-term and final exams.Through the statistical analysis of the spoken Chinese output and the results of two tests,as well as analyzing specific cases,the paper verifies the positive impact of using authentic materials to mobilize students' interest in learning and promote their spoken Chinese skills.After case analysis,class observation and teaching test,this paper summarizes several problems that should be paid attention to when using authentic materials.It is necessary to make clear the teaching objectives and whether authentic materials should be used in teaching.When selecting authentic materials,students' characteristics should be considered.Authentic materials with “i+1” difficulty should be selected.The difficulty of authentic materials should be controlled through activity design.Making full use of the principle of information gap in designing activities can stimulate students' desire to express themselves.Students' performance can be improved by combining authentic materials with textbook content.At the same time,the study also found some problems in the process.After reflection,the paper summarize the experience of using authentic materials and give some suggestions about studying authentic materials in teaching Chinese as a foreign language in the future,such as studying other types of authentic materials,applying authentic materials to different size of class or higher level students,comparing two parallel class,etc.
