Authentic material is of importance in the process of teaching in order to cultivate students'communicative competence. The use of authentic material can make the classroom activities more natural and real and provide students with chance to communicate in the real context to a great degree. The show and teaching of authentic material in teaching chinese as a second language have great significant to Chinese learners, not only the international students coming to China, but also foreign students learning Chinese in their countries. According to the display and teaching of authentic material, the learners can be exposed to the real cultural context, so their cultural adaptability can be improved, meanwhile, they can appreciate the fascination of Chinese in real application from the perspective of authentic material.The thesis chooses commodity names of authentic material as the research objects. Firstly it investigates that how the international students know the commodity names, and the survey shows that they are familiar with authentic material of "seeking blessing", so the studying of authentic material is essential to them. The thesis has a classification statistics about commodity names on the basis of investigation, and it displays that commodity names of authentic material are involved with place name, personal names, plants, animals and color words; according to semantic meaning of commodity names, they can divided into "pursuing beauty", "seeking assets", "pursuing prosperous", "seeking blessing" and "showing virtue". Lastly, applying the commodity names of authentic material to teaching chinese as a second language, to display, to explain and to practice in "3P mode". The thesis selects authentic material of "seeking blessing" which is familiar to international students as the breakthrough point, uses the material object or PPT to have a show. On the other hand, the teachers guide the students to explain or lead the students by introducing a question, differentiating by contrast, thoroughly explaining by stories and discussing to find, it is a way of students-centered. Consequently, the teachers use interesting practices to strengthen knowledge to reach the goal of enhancement of communicative ability and cultural adaptability.The thesis tries to apply commodity names of authentic material to teaching chinese as a second language, therefore, the students can more appreciate Chinese culture in real context, their cultural adaptability can be enhanced to avoid mistakes in communications. Owing to the limitation of the own academic perspective, the research on authentic material is just at the beginning, it will be available to the establishment of authentic material course.
