A Report On The E-C Translation Of Markov Analysis(Chapter 4.1-4.9)

As China's civil aviation industry develops continuously,there is an increasing demand for translation of professional documents,treatises and books in the field of civil aviation.Such documents are often highly technical and flooded with terms and abbreviations.In the meantime,most translators lack the ability to master both civil aviation knowledge and translation skills.Therefore,issues such as misunderstanding of the source text(hereinafter referred to as ST),or incorrect expressions of the target text(hereinafter referred to as TT)appear a lot,which will affect the quality of the translation and the international communication in civil aviation.To address the above issues,the author takes the translation project,Markov Analysis(Chapter 4.1-4.9),commissioned by the Technology and Management Center for Aircraft Airworthiness Certification of Civil Aviation University of China in 2017 as an example,and by describing the ST and the translation process,as well as analyzing typical examples,the author discusses two major problems encountered during the translation of civil aviation English in this reports,which are “comprehension and expression” and “translation of terms and professional knowledge”.First,for highly technical English,the translators must guarantee accurate understanding of ST and correct expression of TT through preparation before translation;second,the translators should make full use of translation tools and professional support to deal with the translation of terms and professional knowledge.Other than that,in this report,the author also discusses the importance of translators' extra-linguistic competence and professionalism during translation.The translation practice and this report make it clear that strengthening translators' professional knowledge,improving their computer abilities,increasing communication with industry experts,and enhancing the comprehensive ability of translators can guarantee the quality and efficiency of translation,and promote the international exchange of civil aviation.
