The source text selected for this report is the first to the third chapter in English Science Fiction Robogenesis. The author of this fiction is Daniel H.Wilson.This science fiction novel allows people to better understand some of the future development of artificial intelligence, and presents it to the readers in a vivid and highly graphical manner. This translation practice report is produced with guidance of the three principles of Skopostheorie, namely the rule of skopos, the rule of coherence and the rule of fidelity. In the translation practice, the following translation techniques are used: firstly, the use of foreignization and naturalization to achieve the realization of the source language and target language partial functional equivalence to reduce post-translation cultural deficiencies;secondly, the adoption of literal translation and free translation methods based on the similarities and differences between English and Chinese linguistic structures to make the translations conform to the target language's expression habits;thirdly, the employment of supplementary translation and subtractive translation in consistency with the target language expression habits in terms of grammar and language, and is consistent with the source text in terms of cultural background and word association;finally, conversional translation is used to make the translation more accessible to target language readers. The author discusses the translation skills and strategies of English translation of such texts by analyzing the stylistic characteristics of Science Fictions, especially those with the theme on artificial intelligence. This report is divided into four chapters.Chapter One is an overview of the translation project. It mainly introduces the relevant conditions of the translation project, the authors and works of the translated text.Chapter Two is the preliminary preparation for translation, including project text analysis and translation plan formulation;Chapter Three deals with case studies with translation strategies and the guidance of Skopostheorie.Chapter Four includes the summary of the thesis, mainly on the problems encountered in translation, the experience and inspiration gained from the translation process.
