A Report On The E-C Translation Of "China FAQs In Human Resources Field" Under The Guidance Of Peter Newmark's Theory Of Communicative Translation

Based on the completion of the translation project for the FAQs for employees in China under the guidance of Newmark's communicative translation theory,this translation practice report analyzes and summarizes the entire translation process in combination with specific cases.The original text is an FAQs handbook for a foreign company on employee relations,salary and benefits.The target readers are the employees of the company in China.The article is an informative text written in the form of questions and answers.According to Newmark's text type theory,translation of informative text is suitable to be guided by the theory of communicative translation.Thus author selects communicative translation theory as the guidance when translates and modifies the translation of the FAQs handbook.This translation report is divided into four chapters.The First Chapter is the project introduction which includes an overview of the project background,the problems to be solved and the meaning of this project.The Second Chapter elaborates the project process.The work of pre-translation,translation process and post translation proofreading is presented in chronological order in this chapter.As the core part,the Third Chapter is case study of this project from the perspectives of expression tone,expression habits and stylistic characteristics,discussing the strategies like combination,addition and omission adopted in translation and their effects.The Last Chapter is the conclusion which includes findings and limitations in this project.
