The first half of the 20 th century was a period of concentrated outbreak of Chinese revolution. The Revolution of 1911,the National Revolution and the CCP Revolution are interconnected and evolved,of which the most influential one is the CCP Revolution.Previous studies on the revolutionary history of the communist party of China have accumulated considerable knowledge on causes of the revolution and the revolutionary mobilization, but there is still some room for discussion about the influence of local forces such as clans and bandits on the revolution. This paper focuses on the clansmen and cliques in the revolution in South Zhejiang during 1927-1937 by using documents and archives, local Chronicles, memoirs, newspaper materials, literature and history materials, then tries to figure out the obstacles they brought to the revolution. From 1924 to 1927,The Zhejiang Organization of the CCP has achieved vigorous development, but they concealed their activities after the Party-clearing.In order to save the revolution,Zhejiang Provincial Committee of CCP organized riots in eastern and northern areas in the early days of its establishment.Because of the failure, the provincial party committee had to try to plan revolution in the rest areas of Zhejiang. In this process, local revolutionary elites utilized Kinship,Local Society and Professional Ties to let clans? and secret associations help revolution.Due to this, the significance of southern Zhejiang gradually was highlighted, and that area even became the center of Zhejiang revolution after 1929.It can be said that the clans and secret organizations are important medium for CCP to penetrate the countryside, form armed forces and carry out the revolutionary insurrection. However, clans and secret associations not only help the revolution, but also restrict the development of the revolution in southern Zhejiang. We can see this from the relation between the Red Army and the Clan in Southern Zhejiang, the destruction of the revolution by gangs and the persistent confrontation between the Big Swords Society and The Red Army Advance Division. This restriction makes only limited cooperation between revolutionaries and clans and secret associations. The process of the CCP revolution going deep into southern Zhejiang during 1927-1937 fully embodies the wisdom of the revolutionaries.
