With the steady improvement of China's overall national strength and international influence,countries around the world are increasingly demanding Chinese language learning.Teaching Chinese as a foreign language is booming in more and more overseas countries.The Confucius Institutes founded by Chinese government and its foreign partners has taken root around the whole world and are becoming the most important platform for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Hanban has also followed this trend and has sent a large number of Chinese volunteers and teachers overseas.However,Chinese volunteers and teachers who are proficient in the native language of the country are often sent to some large language countries.For small language countries like Azerbaijan where Chinese volunteers and teachers who can't speak the local language but English are more likely to be sent to.That has brought great challenges to the teaching Chinese overseas.It also determines the necessity for teachers to use English as an teaching interlanguage in daily teaching.Therefore,as for teaching Chinese as foreign language in Azerbaijan,how to use English correctly as a teaching interlanguage becomes an important topic to be studied.In this paper,I present my own views and suggestions on the pros and cons of teachers using English as a teaching interlanguage and how to use English as a teaching interlanguage effectively and correctly which is through the statistics and analysis of the questionnaires of teachers and students and based on my two years'service experience at the Confucius Institute in Baku State University.This paper is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part.It mainly introduces the research background,research purpose and significance,research objects and methods.Meanwhile,it also makes a preliminary definition of the research topic in this paper.The second chapter is focus on the related theories and research status.Firstly,this part briefly expounds some main theories on which this paper is based in the process of studying and discussing the teaching strategies of English as a teaching interlanguage in teaching Chinese as a foreign language in Azerbaijan,which mainly include:media language,interlanguage,teaching interlanguage,second language acquisition and language transfer theory,and the nature and characteristics of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Then,from the perspective of medium language and using English as teaching interlanguage,the author enumerates and analyzes relevant research literature at home and abroad,and points out some problems and deficiencies in the current research on English as teaching interlanguage from domestic and overseas perspective.The third chapter is the core part of this paper and is the source of my practice in this paper.In this chapter,the author has carried out detailed statistics and analysis on the questionnaires of teachers and students,focusing on the frequency of teachers' use of English as a teaching interlanguage for different levels of Chinese learners in daily teaching and Changes in the expected value of teachers' use of English as a teaching interlanguage of students of different levels.The fourth chapter is the conclusion of this paper.Based on the previous analysis results,the author explores the positive and negative aspects of teachers' use of English as a teaching interlanguage and proposes a correct and effective way to use English as a teaching interlanguage.The final chapter is ending words of this paper.In this part,the author briefly summarizes the conclusions of this paper and points out some shortcomings in the research.I hope that experts and scholars could criticize and correct my paper.
