Studies On The Dissemination And Acceptance Of Yu Hua's Works In South Korea

As a famous writer,Yu Hua is not only popular in China,but also in South Korea.In 1995,the film "To Live" was released in South Korea which is based on Yu Hua 's novel,and it became the earliest opportunity for the Korean public to know the writer Yu Hua.In 1997,"To Live,was translated and published in South Korea.Since then,the works of Yu Hua began to spread in Korea.By now,due to promotion of cultural exchanges between China and South Korea,Yu Hua's works have been more and more widely spread in South Korea.Yu Hua's novels,"To Live" and "Chronicle of a Blood Merchant" and "The Seventh Day",are popular among Korean readers.These three novels are in the "Best-selling Chinese Novels List" in South Korea,and Yu Hua is one of the most popular Chinese writers among Korean readers.However,there are few pieces of academic research on Yu Hua's dissemination acceptance in South Korea,not only for the scholar but also for readers.Although new works of Chinese literature continue to be translated and published in South Korea,Yu Hua's timeless classics remain popular.There are four main reasons why Yu Hua has become so influential in the south Korean book market.First,after 2007,the Chinese books market became a potential emerging market and set off a boom in South Korea;Second,the influence of the changing book trend;third,the influence of films based on the original novels.Especially in South Korea,the film "Chronicle of a Blood Merchant",which was shot as the original work,greatly contributed to the spread of the original work,despite it had not achieved the good result in the film,s box office.The fourth reason is the resonance of literary themes and the emotional link with Korean readers.In order to be a successful literary work in a foreign country,it needs to be not only artistically outstanding but also to make reader's resonance.In Yu Hua,s three works,the history related content is somewhat difficult for ordinary Korean readers to understand,but the keywords as a whole have aroused great resonance.The keywords that arouse resonance and attention in Yu Hua's works can be summarized as"Life","Father love","Life after death" and so on.These are the reasons why Yu Hua continues to be loved by Korean readers.
