Interpretation is an activity that translates a source language into a target language and achieves the purpose of transmitting information.Logic analysis runs through the interpreting activities and is essential for delivering high quality interpretation.Fully understanding the source language and its logic are two challenges in Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation. This thesis is a case study based on the 2018 Tokyo Marine Group's Corporate Conference for Individual Investors Simulation Meeting. It will first discuss the problems occurred in the interpretation when the author was trying to grasp the hidden logic of the source language.Next, this thesis will analyze the problems from three perspectives:wording, sentence structure and textual coherence of the source language, and find out the causes behind the problems. Finally, based on the findings, the thesis will propose feasible solutions to help interpreters better understand the logic of the source language when doing simultaneous interpretation. The author finds out that,in terms of the wording the source language, negative transfer from the mother tongue and the difficulties in interpreting Japanese slangs are the two main reasons for not being able to grasp the logic of the source language. From the perspective of sentence structure, failing to spot out the subject in the sentence, not being able to interpret predicates and modifiers in the sentence are the main causes. In terms of textual coherence,According to the causes, the author proposes three pieces of advice.First, interpreters should learn the cultural differences between China and Japan so as to better deverbalize during interpretation.Second, interpreter should put sufficient effort in spotting out the subject and the hidden logic of the source language when doing simultaneous interpreting. Finally, interpreters can use the “three-stage information structure” to help them better understand the logic and deliver high quality interpretation.
