Chinese complex sentence is not only related to the continuous text but also contains clauses.It has a very important position in Chinese grammar units and it has been the focus of attention in the study of Chinese ontology.Also,it is one of the key contents of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.China's academic circles have rich research on the ontology of Chinese complex sentence,and have achieved significant research results.Regarding the study of Chinese complex sentences,Xing Fuyi's study of complex sentence is very distinctive and eye-catching.especially his classification system——trichotomy.Trichotomy broke the long-dominant dichotomy and caused great repercussions in academic circles.Starting from the existing achievements in the theory of Chinese complex sentence research,this paper wants to deeply explore Xing Fuyi's theory of complex sentence and make a comprehensive and objective analysis of its characteristics and problems.Then the paper tries to provide some thoughts and suggestions to the teaching of Chinese complex sentence to foreigners based on Xing Fuyi's theory.The paper is divided into seven parts.INTRODUCTION briefly introduces the reasons for selecting the topic and the purpose,innovation and significance of the research.CHAPTER TWO summarizes the current research results of Chinese complex sentence systematically,including the concept,the division of simple sentence and complex sentence and the classification of complex sentence.In addition,it sorts out some related papers about the research on Xing Fuyi and teaching of Chinese complex sentence to foreigners.CHAPTER THREE summarizes Xing Fuyi's research results especially his great contribution to Chinese complex sentence and it will pay attention to his trichotomy.CHAPTER FOUR tries to explain Xing Fuyi's research's theoretical characteristics concisely through three "combinations"——the combination of logic and language facts.the combination of signs,relationships and the combination of surface form and linguistic meaning and pragmatic value.Based on Xing Fuyi's book,CHAPTER FIVE tries to make an objective analysis of Xing Fuyi's theory and list some weak points of his theory from a dialectical perspective,such as the indistinct logical relationship and factual relationship,the vague relation,and the fuzzy definition.Considering teaching status and Xing Fuyi's theory,CHAPTER SIX gives some enlightening suggestions.We should pay attention to the overall view of complex sentence knowledge and teaching.We should emphasize the logical relationships of complex sentence.We should attach importance to second-level complex sentence teaching and pay attention to the combination of surface form and linguistic meaning and pragmatic value.We should place the emphasis on teaching conjunctive word.And we are encouraged to make full use of existing research results.
