In the Chinese as a foreign language,students generally reported "difficulty in writing Chinese characters".During my time as a volunteer in Peru,I found that learning Chinese characters was a difficult task for Peruvian students.Although there has been a lot of research on the teaching of Chinese characters in the international teaching of Chinese,there has been little research on the teaching and learning of Chinese characters in Peru,and the classroom teaching methods of Chinese characters adopted by the teachers of Confucius Institute are relatively boring,Peruvian learners are not efficient in learning Chinese characters.Therefore,the author takes Confucius Institute of Pontifical Catholic University of Peru(PUCP)as an example to discuss the teaching of Chinese characters to Peruvian learners.Based on the comprehensive classroom of Confucius Institute of PUCP,this paper takes the teachers and students of Confucius Institute as research objects,and takes the problems of Chinese characters discovered in the course of teaching as the breakthrough point.This paper studies the learning characteristics and Chinese character learning of Peruvian learners by means of teaching practice,observation and questionnaire,then sums up the whole teaching situation of Confucius Institute and the teaching methods of Chinese characters in common use.The problems in the teaching of Chinese characters in Confucius Institute of Catholic University are pointed out,and the causes of the problems are analyzed.Based on the analysis of the problems in the teaching of Chinese characters and the characteristics of the teaching contents of Chinese characters at the primary stage,with the teaching and learning situation of Chinese characters in Confucius Institute,this paper designs some classroom teaching activities by using task-based teaching method,and designs concrete teaching cases of Chinese characters within the framework of the comprehensive course based on the new practical Chinese textbook.Then it evaluates and reflects on the effect of the implementation of teaching cases.Finally,some suggestions on the teaching and learning of Chinese characters for the teachers and students of the Confucius Institute are put forward.
