A Research On The Music History Of Yecheng

The ruins of Yecheng are located in Linzhang County,Handan City,Hebei Province.As the ancient capital of the previous six dynasties,Yecheng occupies an important position in the study of the history of cities,religions,and history of war.However,in the research of the ancient Chinese music field,some researches on Yecheng have always been insignificant,which doesn't get the attention it should deserve.As an important northern city in ancient times,Yecheng 's research on its music culture is much less than other ancient cities.This article sets the time period during the Wei,Jin,North-South Dynasties,and Explore the cultural status of Yecheng through analyzing the important music events that happened during that period,Connecting the major musical events that took place in this city into a whole.Therefore,this article studies the music culture of Yecheng in Wei,Jin,North-South Dynasties from the perspective of regional music history.This article is divided into four chapters:Chapter One: Music events in Yecheng in Cao Wei's period;Chapter Two: The Past and Present of "The King of Lanling Enters the Formation";Chapter Three:Musical Elements in Grotto Art in Yecheng;Chapter Four: Archeological discoveries of music in the Yecheng.Through research,this article draws the following conclusions: The most glorious period of Yecheng was the 300 years from Cao Cao's defeat of Yuan Shao in the 9th year of Jian'an(204)to Yecheng regarding that as the center of power,to the two years of Northern Zhou Dynasty(580)with Yang Jian's burning of the city,which almost covers the whole period of Wei,Jin,North-South Dynasties.The Jian'an Literati Group,represented by the three ancestors of the Wei family and Cao Zhi,created many literary and artistic works in Yecheng;King Lanling's remarkable military achievements and then buried here,making "The King of Lanling Enters the Formation" widely sung by future generations,and even eastward to Japan;From the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Sui and Tang Dynasties,many high-level royal grottoes were built in Yecheng,which not only reflects the prosperity of Buddhism in this period,but also Reflects the impact of multiculturalism on Yecheng;After nearly 30 years of archeological excavations,many music-related cultural relics have been unearthed,and this city's music features have been presented to modern people in an intuitive way.In short,Yecheng had a big cultural development period during Wei,Jin,North-South Dynasties,but Yecheng has never been the capital of a unified multi-ethnic country,and was alternately ruled by different regimes in that time,which caused Yecheng's economic development to be erratic due to alternating regimes;However,on the other hand,frequent dynasty changes also provide the possibility for the diversified development of Yecheng culture.Because of this,the author believes that Yecheng has a unique temperament not found in other ancient capitals,that is,under the alternating rule of rulers of different backgrounds,it has absorbed the essence of many cultures,making "fusion" become Yecheng's Keyword of cultural development.Based on this,the historical events about music that happened in Yecheng are the product of the combined influence of many factors such as politics,economy,and culture.Due to the long-term turmoil in Yecheng,some musical historical events will end with the demise of the dynasty.On the one hand,the change of dynasties meant that the music culture was broken in reality,which also led to the lack of a systematic understanding and research of the general music style of Yecheng by modern academic circles.On the other hand,the continuity of culture has helped these seemingly different dynasties' musical historical events to have a closer connection at a deeper level,which is also a clue that this article attempts to clarify.Given that the main content of this article is an analysis of musical events that occurred during a historical period in Yecheng,so this article focuses on the research methods of regional music history,and combines field studies with music philology,music imageology,and field collecting of ethnomusicology,by analyzing the important music events that occurred in Yecheng during the Wei,Jin,North-South Dynasties,in order to make some contribution to restoring the style of Yecheng's music culture formed during the 300 years.
