A Report On The Consecutive Interpreting Of The Achievements Of Henan Rural Revitalization

Under the guidance of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as its core,Henan's rural rejuvenation strategy has yielded remarkable achievements.In the communication of “Telling stories of China well and telling stories of the Communist Party of China well”,interpreting plays a vital role and the selection of interpreting strategies has a direct influence on the communication effect.In June,2019,invited by the Foreign Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,delegation of senior Fijian civil servants visited Xuchang village,Lankao,gaining a deep understanding about the achievements of the rural revitalization process under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.This report selects the interpreting cases of Xuchang village and Lankao Exhibition Hall on the second day of the itinerary for analysis and study.Appropriate selection of interpretation strategies could ensure the accuracy and completeness of the source language.In the interpreting activities which mean to share the achievements of China's new countryside with the world,the view of interpretive theory has great guiding significance.Interpretive theory holds that interpreting is a communicative act which involves human cognition;the purpose of interpreting is communication,with an emphasis on the transmission of meaning rather than the language itself;the interpreting process consists three stages:comprehension,deverbalization and reproduction.Guided by the interpretive theory and based on the case analysis of the interpreting practice,this report summarizes four interpreting strategies: free interpreting,conversion of the part of the speech,information supplement and sentence structure reorganization.Free interpreting theory enables the interpreter to convey the meaning and emotions of the source language.Conversion of the part ofthe speech makes the target language simple and smooth.Information supplement strategy adds necessary supplementary information about the cultural background knowledge and professional terminology of the source language.Sentence structure reorganization strategy means that,to achieve the meaning equivalence between the source language and the target language,the interpreter does not have to be confined to the sentence structure and word selection of the source language,but to reorganize the sentence structure on the basis of understanding the content and logic.The report also analyzes the phenomenon of missed interpreting,misinterpreting and combined with the analysis and reflection,tries to summarize the coping strategies.
