World Health Statistics is a series of annual reports on global health issued by the World Health Organization(WHO)since 2005.The relevant departments of the WHO have contributed to this series of reports on the basis of collecting,compiling and processing data indicators both at national and global levels.These reports are accurate,detailed,credible in data quality and wide in coverage.They are of high reference value for countries to understand the current state of global health,to strengthen international health exchange and assistance,and to formulate and implement health strategies and policies at the national level.The source text is selected from the World Health Statistics 2018.There is no official translation of the report yet.The author mainly translates and studies the Copyright Notice,Contents,Foreword,Preface,Abbreviations,Introduction and the first three parts(the main body)of the statistics report.In the translation practice report,the author,with the text typology of Reiss and Newmark as theoretical support,and taking into consideration the scientific,professional,accurate and interdisciplinary characteristics of statistics report,aims to explore the methods and strategies to translate statistics report.On the basis of translation practice,literature review and text analysis,the author puts forward four principles that should be observed in the practical translation:precision,smoothness and coherence,intuitiveness and concision,professionalism and formalness.In this translation report,the author mainly analyzes and discusses the re-delivery of numeral-related expressions,the translation of terms and proper nouns,the translation of key words and phrases,the translation of compound words,the flexible re-expression of modifiers,the splitting and restructuring of complex sentences,and provides suggestive translation techniques for each of them,hoping to sketch a theoretical framework for the translation of statistics report,as well as provide practicable principles and methods for the future translation of this type of text.
