The compulsory education English Curriculum Standard(2011Edition)has made clear requirements for the vocabulary that primary school students should master.It also points out that teachers should guide students to develop learning strategies in a planned and step-by-step way and improve their autonomous learning ability.After a questionnaire survey and vocabulary test of 49 students in class 1,grade 6,Qidong primary school,Hengyang City,this study found that there are some problems such as lack of learning motivation,unclear learning objectives and contents,poor learning methods,and learning achievements to be improved.In order to optimize the English vocabulary teaching methods and improve the effectiveness of students' English vocabulary learning,this paper carried out an action research on English Vocabulary Teaching in Senior Primary School under the guidance of learning autonomy mode in this class.Based on the theory of recent development zone,constructivism learning theory and autonomous learning theory,this study collects quantitative and qualitative data with the help of questionnaires and vocabulary test papers to explore the following questions:(1)What is the change of English vocabulary learning performance of senior primary school students before and after action research?(2)What is the impact of the autonomous learning model on the development of primary school students' autonomous learning ability and autonomous learning strategies?The findings and conclusions of this study include:(1)Before the action research,the subjects' English vocabulary learning performance is poor.In the pre vocabulary test with a total score of 40,the average score of the students is only 21.78,while after the action research,the average score of the students is 27.16.The results of paired sample t-test also show that the self-directed learning model has a significant role in promoting the improvement of primary school students' English vocabulary performance;(2)The data of the questionnaire shows that students' learning interest,self-regulated learning ability and self-regulated learning strategies have been improved after action research,among which the self-regulated learning ability is the most obvious.This action research suggests that teachers should cultivate their own awareness of problems in teaching practice,discover teaching problems,actively explore and implement feasible teaching methods,which can guide students to improve their autonomous learning ability and enhance their autonomous learning strategies with the help of the learning guidance plan;students should gradually improve their autonomous learning ability,learn to actively adjust their learning plans under the guidance of the learning guidance plan and to find the appropriate self-learning strategies.
