Reconstruction Of Local Space By Public Art

As a way of using urban public space,public art practice involves the urban regeneration with materialized works of art,placing art works where people can see and reach,defining and enabling space,and participating in space to place in the process.In the context of China's reality,focusing on the publicity of public art,;on the one hand,scholars continue to use the Public Sphere that originates from the west,as a reference to understand "public" in public art,but there is a vast distance between reality and theory;on the other hand,the urbanization wave has never stopped or even accelerated,driving us to have a more localized understanding of such practices;this article attempts to observe and study this,to and explores the reconstruction of local space by public artThis article selects Wuhu Sculpture Park as a case study because it is typical in the practice of public art in urban renewal in China.It has been summarized by scholars as the "Wuhu Pattern",and its investigation and research should be able to provide benefits enlightenment for the intervention of public art in China's current urban development.From the perspective of space,the research focuses on the Wuhu Sculpture Park,it analyzes the composition of urban space and describes the process of local construction in practice of urban space,it explores how public art practice participates and shapes this process,and constructs the question of how people to people,the relationship between people and cities and how can it release public value.After obtaining empirical materials through field surveys and in-depth interviews,we have got some findings.From the project design to the completion and opening of the sculpture park,it has now become a daily activity space familiar to Wuhu citizens,reflecting that the city is a huge communication system;The sculpture park is not only a physical space,but also a spatial medium that contains practical activities and social relations,condensing social mechanisms and cultural meanings;public art practices combine local historical and cultural resources to deeply participate in the local construction.The physical The physical space is closely linked with the citizens'memories and cognitions of Wuhu history,the identification of Wuhu New District construction and the modern city construction behind it,and the identification of Wuhu as the place where they live,constructing a place regarded as local space in the public vision;The sculpture park as a medium has opened up new ways of daily life for citizens by structuring new social interaction situations and behaviors.Public art,as a deregulated intermediary with expressing polysemy,neutralizes the space Rules,to develop a flow public space among multiple agents.These inspired us that through the intervention of public art,we can promote the combination of urban modernization and local history,the combination of urbanization narrative and local knowledge and values,to become a unique local symbol and urban public space.Further more,the publicity of public art has been implemented and enriched in local practice,its potential has been released,and it emerges a fluid,specific and open character.
