For the most foreign students in China, in the course of Chinese learning, listening is one of the more difficult language skills to grasp. In the test of HSK, many students feel that listening is difficult, and the whole of them get very low points. Bad listening ability becomes the biggest barrier for these foreign students learning and living in China. According to the analysis of listening errors appear in the foreign students'class, I realize that one of the reasons for the students'bad listening ability is in the listening course, the students have many barriers, while in the teaching process, the teachers lack the directed guiding, and the students couldn't get the effective listening training, so it affects the efficiency of listening teaching greatly.This paper takes African students as researching target, and listening understanding barriers as researching thesis, on the basis of predecessors'researching, uses the method of class-testing and after-school interview, through the statistic and analysis to the test result, finds out their listening barrier.This paper tests the African students through the three aspects of phonetic transcription listening, sentence listening, and short essay listening. It makes the errors'analysis of the initial consonant, the compound vowel, and the tone respectively, finds out the main errors in their sentence listening and short essay listening, and analyzes the reasons. On this base, I propose the teaching methods to the listening course of the primary African students: making the directed listening training to them; pronunciation training should run through the whole language learning stages; using the diversified teaching methods.I expect this research could help teachers make the directed listening teaching to the African students, and improve the teaching efficiency.
