A Report On Simulated Chinese-English Consecutive Interpreting Of Seizing The Strategic Opportunity Period And Achieving High-Quality Development

In the context of a human community with a shared future,the continuous increase of China's national strength,means that the communication with foreign countries are deepening in all aspects.How to correctly understand the country's economic development,how to face the complex international environment and how to seize the strategic opportunity period to develop national economy have become hot issues of mutual concern for domestic and even the world's economists.This report takes as the source text the speech delivered by Professor Cai Fang,at the First “Situation and Policy” Department Member Lecture Series and conducts simulated consecutive interpreting.With the consent of the supervisor and professor,the interpreter simulated and recorded the whole lecture for a total of about two hours.In this report,the interpreter makes a textual analysis based on the simulated consecutive interpreting.First of all,the interpreter introduces the background of this interpreting,proposes the purpose and significance of this report and makes a description about the lecture,speakers and potential audience.The important theoretical knowledge involved in this report is also introduced.Afterwards,the interpreter analyzes the whole process of interpreting according to the pre-task preparation,conducting the task and post-task reflection.In view of the problems appeared in the process of interpreting,such as information overload,the speaker's lack of fluency and semantic error caused by excessive ellipsis,etc,this report analyzes specific examples of interpreting and proposes corresponding coping strategies based on The Effort Models of the consecutive interpreting proposed by Daniel Gile,including simplification of over-loaded information,omission of redundant expression and amplification of elliptical sentences.Finally,this paper analyzes the characteristics of consecutive interpreting,summarizes the problems and puts forward some specific suggestions.The interpreter realizes that solid professional foundation,instant response speed,rich practical experience and great energy coordination ability are very crucial for the interpreting.These will not only ensure the fluency and accuracy of the interpreting task,but also promote the communication between China and foreign countries as well as the development of interpreting.The interpreter hopes that by summarizing the problems and experiences in this report,the quality of interpreting practice can be improved in the future.
