English graded reading as a supplement and expansion of teaching materials is of positive significance to the cultivation of students' reading literacy,in which this conclusion has been confirmed by a large number of research results.At present,the integration of English teaching materials and English graded reading to construct the school-based English curriculum has been implemented in some economically developed areas.However,there are few research and analysis on this kind of school-based English reading teaching.In this paper,it takes the reading teaching in the middle and senior grades of S Primary school as the research object,which uses the questionnaire survey to explore the problems existing in the English reading teaching in the primary school of S school.And it formulates a research approach after clarifying the problems,which carries out two rounds of action research.Finally,it puts forward some suggestions to improve the effect of reading teaching in S school.In view of some problems appearing in reading teaching,such as the inappropriate choice of teaching materials for extracurricular reading,the unsuitable design of teaching objectives;the single reading teaching mode and the lack of teaching method;the insufficient extracurricular reading guidance,and the unformed students' reading habits,it puts forward some suggestions for improvement in this paper,such as selecting appropriate teaching materials,optimizing reading teaching plans,forming the integration of extensive reading and intensive reading teaching;optimizing teaching goal design,exploring diversified reading teaching models;passing on reading guidance,carrying out a variety of reading activities and so on.At the same time,it collects and analyzes the data in each stage of action research,such as questionnaire survey,classroom teaching design,teaching reflection,teacher interview,student interview and so on.As a result,it is concluded that action research can promote students' English reading literacy.At last,it puts forward three-dimensional suggestions from the perspective of teachers,schools and parents in the sixth chapter,in which the reform of reading teaching should not only have the teaching reform at the teaching level,but also need the guidance and policy support of the school and the education department,as well as the attention and participation of the parents.This study is a case study,and the conclusion is of great practical value to the English reading teaching of S school.Moreover,it is expected that the study can bring some reference and enlightenment for the follow-up English reading teaching.
