Mate-selection behavior is an absolutely premise of human reproduction,and Childhood psychological abuse is a major public health issue worldwide.Although both topics are the focus of extensive research,there is no specific study on the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and mate-selection.Accordingly,the current study explored the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and mate-selection,which further examined the mediating effect between the relationship in Chinese societies.We expected to enrich the researches on mate-selection,and revealed the mechanism of the role of childhood psychological abuse on mate-selection.A comprehensive questionnaire was administered to 738 students who were recruited from three universities in Harbin of Heilongjiang province.The Childhood Psychological Maltreatment Scale,Mate-selection Standards Scale,Mini-k Scale and Self-consciousness Scale(ASS)were distributed to subjects in order to survey the psychological abuse they experienced during childhood,their mate-selection,life history strategies,self-evaluation,and the basic demographics information.SPSS 22.0AMOS17.0 and Mplus7.4 were used to analyze the data.The main results of the study were as follows:(1)Childhood Psychological Abuse showed significant differences in students' educational background and only child or not,undergraduate students scored higher than graduate students,the non-only child scored higher than the only child;connivance showed significant differences in gender,the male subjects scored significantly higher than female subjects.(2)Mate-selection showed significant differences in gender and number of romantic experiences,the male subjects scored significantly higher than female subjects,the subjects without romantic experience scored lower than the subjects with romantic experiences.(3)Childhood psychological abuse and mate-selection,life history strategy,self-evaluation were negative correlation.(4)The regression coefficients of childhood psychological abuse to mate-selectiontendency were significant.(5)Life history strategy played a mediating role between childhood psychological abuse and mate-selection tendency.(6)Self-evaluation played a mediating role between childhood psychological abuse and mate-selection tendency.(7)Life history strategy and self-evaluation played the chain mediating roles between childhood psychological abuse and mate-selection tendency.
