The translation task,on which this report is based,is to translate the academic monograph Tourism Marketing for Developing Countries.This book focuses on tourism marketing in developing countries,introduces tourists' perceptions,stereotypes and media images of developing countries,describes tourism markets in the Middle East,Africa and Asia,and finally proposes tourism planning,development and marketing methods for these countries.Based on translation of chapter 3 of the book,this report explores the guiding significance of the Variation Translation Theory,and analyzes the application of five translation methods of the theory.These methods include Adding,Reducing,Editing,Paraphrasing and adapting in translation.This report is mainly divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction to translation tasks,including the introduction to practical materials and the significance and value of translation practice.The second part introduces the translation process,including three components: preparation before translation,translation task implementation and quality assurance.The third part is the case study of translation,which focuses on the analysis of the theory of variant translation and explores the translator's adaptation to meet the needs of readers.The fourth part is the summary of translation practice and self-reflection.
