| This paper is a report on the practice of English Chinese two-way escort interpretation.Based on the author's three-day escort interpretation task for Guangzhou Tianhe Aquatic Products Co.,Ltd.at the 24 th China Fishery and Seafood Expo in Qingdao,this paper summarizes the whole interpretation task process,focusing on the multiple roles of the interpreter,the unexpected situations,and the interpreter's on-site handling and temporary response capabilities.The 24 th China International Fisheries and Seafood Expo in Qingdao is hosted by the Agricultural Branch of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and American Marine Exhibition Company.This report summarizes the pre-translation preparations from the aspects of background information,industry terminology and non-verbal factors,reflecting the importance of pre-translation preparations for the success of the interpretation tasks.Secondly,the author focuses on describing the different roles of interpreters in different occasions.Thirdly,by introducing specific cases,the author analyzes the advantages,problems and unexpected situations in this interpretation practice.Through analyzing the cases,the author summarizes the reasons,exploring the corresponding strategies and improvement measures,including enhancing the physical and psychological qualities,correctly understanding the interpreter's role,and making a comprehensive preparation beforehand.This report concludes as follows: interpreters need to make adequate preparation before the practice;interpreters should play multiple roles well,undertaking various tasks and exercising various abilities in escort interpretation;interpreters should have a proper grasp of their own identity to avoid offside.The task of escort interpretationusually has a long-time span and contains various situations.It is necessary to expect and prepare for emergencies,keep calm in case of unexpected situations,and improve the ability of on-site response. |
