Vocabulary serves as the building material in a language and the basis for people to express emotion through language.And it is an indispensable link for mastering a language to effectively acquire vocabulary.Throughout the development process of foreign language teaching,vocabulary teaching has attracted constant attention from various scholars,who have discussed the vocabulary teaching from different perspectives such as the translation method and the morpheme teaching method.In recent years,with the advancement of science and technology,theories like corpus linguistics and language acquisition have become increasingly matured and the language chunks-based teaching method has successfully drawn people's eyes.Scholars have discovered that there are a large many of fixed or semi-fixed language structures,which would be frequently utilized by native speakers in their language communication so as to make sure the accuracy and fluency of their expression.This forms the definition of chunks of language.At present,it has been found that in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,more and more Chinese learners have shown problems such as the inaccuracy and disfluency of Chinese lexical expression,or their expressions don't comply with the habits of Chinese expressions.However,no effective solutions have been found and Chinese language learners can do nothing by resort to rote memorization,which has led to a situation where students only know how to do it,but not why.Therefore,the application of chunks of language has also begun to be employed in the vocabulary teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.The author holdsthat combining the chunks of language with vocabulary teaching and teaching vocabularies in the form of "chunks" can to some extent contribute to the systematicness of Chinese vocabulary teaching.As such,the author has taken the textbook of Road to Success: Lower Elementary as the research object and summarized and analyzed the chunks of Chinese language incorporated in the book.In the teaching experiment,the author has presented the new words in the form of chunks of Chinese vocabularies,hoping to reduce some wrong habits in vocabulary output of Chinese learners and be capable of establishing the awareness of language chunks among Chinese language learners.This paper has been divided into five parts.The first chapter is the introduction which is composed of the research background and significance,research reviewed of language chunks-based teaching method,research problem,research method,etc.The second chapter discusses the necessity of the language chunks-based teaching method in the vocabulary teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.It expounds from five perspectives,including the relationship between chunks of language and vocabularies,the existing problems of Chinese language learners in vocabulary learning,the status quo of vocabulary teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,and the current situation of chunks of language in the textbook of Chinese as a second language,the significance of language chunks-based teaching method in learning Chinese vocabulary.In the third chapter,by taking the textbook of Road to Success: Lower Elementary as the research object,the author has conducted a study on the chunks of the Chinese language by defining,sorting,and classifying the chunks of language.The fourth chapter mainly involves the application of the language chunks-based teaching method in practical vocabulary teaching.Based on the teaching cases,the author has demonstrated the specific application process of the language chunks-based teaching method in vocabulary teaching of Chinese as a second language and analyzed whether it will produce some impact on Chinese language learners.In the fifth chapter,combined with the teaching experiences,the author has offered some suggestions from the views of teachers,learners,and textbooks of Chinese as a second language.
