Recently the information release of the Defense Ministry has become more oriented towards politics and the Party. Therefore, the Defense Ministry's Regular Press Conference obviously places more emphasis on the release of political and military information, among which political terminologies and official expressions are abundant.Such expressions are characterized by short phrases, frequent repetition, quick utterance, incoherent logic and syntactic structure. It poses big challenges to the on-site interpretation. In this report, the author attempts to analyze the interpreting of political and military speeches by employing the Interpretive Theory of Translation,in particular the hypothesis of deverbalization and the triangular model of the interpretation process.Special attention is paid to the use of strategies such as main points integrating, logic processing, sentence structure integrating and cognitive complement,as well as to the expression of the speakers' sentiments in their personalized speeches. The author has found through analysis that the interpreting strategies based on the Interpretive Theory of Translation has proved quite applicable for political and military interpretation.By breaking through the outer linguistic layer of the source language, reshuffling the SL sentence structures and concentrating on the transfer of meaning, the interpreter can better handle those formal expressions in the speech;through information integration and logic and syntax processing, the interpreter is able to convey the meaning and attitude inherent in the SL in a correct and smooth manner in order to successfully complete his task at the press conference.
