This dissertation selects the third chapter of American Exceptionalism: Economics,Finance,Political Economy and Economic Law as the source text.Michael Szenberg and Lall Ramrattan are co-authors of this book in economics which was published in English in early 2019.“American exceptionalism” has exerted a great influence on the foreign policy and diplomatic behavior of the United States in different periods. It is not only a theory to analyze American problems, but also a unique perspective to study American phenomena. But of many studies of “American exceptionalism”,few had previously examined it from an economic perspective. While this book is analyzed by economists from the perspective of economics, the translation of this book can provide multiple and novel Chinese literature for the research in this field. The source text includes a great deal of the terminology, long English sentences, and extensive knowledge of economics and finance. In view of the obvious differences in vocabulary and syntax between economic texts and other types of texts, under the guidance of Hans Vermeer's “skopos theory”,this report mainly conducts translation analyses from the lexical and syntactic levels. The author adopts many translation strategies, such as conversion, negation, amplification and omission. The author aims to translate the source text accurately, clearly, normatively and fluently.Through the study of translation theory and translation strategies, the author can solve the problems encountered in the process of translation, summarizing the valuable methods and personal shortcomings in translation. The author has learnt appropriate methods and strategies in translating economic texts.
