Cultural Default And Compensation Strategies On C-E Translation Of Scenic Spots Introduction From The Perspective Of Eco-Translatology

With the increasing number of foreign tourists coming to China,the English translation of scenic spots introduction,as an important medium to show the culture to overseas tourists,has taken on the function of external publicity,which covers such aspects as tourist instructions,scenic spot names,and historical backgrounds.Now,the study of C-E translation of scenic spots introduction focuses on the error categories,causes,and strategies,and lacks study on the pragmatic effects of cultural connotations and operational compensation strategies.Cultural default,a special cultural phenomenon in C-E translation,directly affects cross-cultural communication.The translator should adopt translation compensation strategies,on the basis of correctly understanding the content of scenic spots introduction,and give full play to the cross-cultural communication function of the translation in different contexts.Fuzhou,as a cultural capital,has rich cultural resources and historical deposits.However,there are few articles systematically discussing the translation of local tourism,and the quality of English translation of scenic spots is uneven,especially involved specific cultural information.In view of this phenomenon,in order to improve the quality of the C-E translation of local tourist attractions,based on two levels to specifically analyze the default types,and based on the three aspects of language,culture,and communication to summarize the translation strategies and applicable types deeply.Based on the theory of eco-translatology,the author takes three cultural benchmarks of Fuzhou,namely,Three Lanes and Seven Alleys,Chuanzheng Culture Museum,Tanshishan Cultural Site,as well as the introduction texts of Kuliang as the research materials.According to the scope of absolute and relative cultural defaults,through the analysis,revision,and conclusion of the translation,the compensation strategies for specific contexts and translation purposes are extracted: semantic,syntactic,and pragmatic strategies.Semantic strategies include addition and connotation,replacement and omission,rewriting,and adaptation.Syntactic strategies include extension,division,and reconstruction,textual coherence.Pragmatic strategies include pronoun and analogy,image dilution,and aesthetic creation.This paper aims to improve the translation accuracy of the scenic spots introduction and to maximize the cultural characteristics.This paper aims to seek reference standard and adaptable translation strategies,to better guide the practice of C-E tourist translation and realize the expected function and effect of translation.
