The Multiple Participants' Construction Of "Yuexiu Temple Fair" Nostalgia Space

The wave of modernization and urbanization has promoted the contemporary nostalgia trend.Folk festivals rooted in local culture have been valued.Local government departments have actively explored local folk cultural resources,organized periodic folk festival activities,and strived to create nostalgia space for folk festival to meet people's nostalgic consumption needs.At present,the academic community pays less attention to the nostalgic space for folk festivals.This study selects the typical case of Yuexiu Temple Fair in Yuexiu District of Guangzhou,and uses field survey methods,participatory observation methods and other data collection methods to collect data,such as government staff interviews,government meeting records,visitor interviews and other data.Grounded theory is used to analyze the data.And this study puts forward the theoretical model of the multiple participants' construction mechanism of the Yuexiu temple fair nostalgic space,and explain the ways employed by different participants in the construction of the Yuexiu temple fair nostalgic space in detail.On this basis,the existing problems are reflected,and the empirical enlightenment that can be extended to the construction of nostalgic space for folk festivals is proposed.The specific questions of this study include: Which subjects participate in the construction of the nostalgic space of Yuexiu temple fair,and how do they participate in the construction process? Which kind of nostalgic space of the Yuexiu temple fair is constructed by different subjects? What are the problems in the nostalgic space construction of Yuexiu Temple Fair? What revelation can we get from the process?The research conclusions show that:(1)The construction of the nostalgic space of Yuexiu Temple Fair is a process in which multiple subjects participate.Different participants take part in the construction process in different ways,and they influence each other.The government is the leading force in space practice.At the invitation of the government,traditional cultural representatives and groups,experts and citizens participate in the nostalgic space practice in different ways.Their participation is greatly influenced by the government.Under the leadership of the government,according to the practice of the nostalgic space of Yuexiu Temple Fair,a large number of news reports have shaped the image of Yuexiu Temple Fair,which is the new folk festivals inheriting the traditional culture,and established the nostalgic space representation of Yuexiu Temple Fair.This spatial representation not only shapes the spatial practice,but also maps to the representational space,forming a nostalgic space image of Yuexiu temple fair in people's minds.The nostalgic emotional space that tourists participate in the construction is based on space practice,which has rich meaning and active role.Tourists who are limited by their own speech rights in the construction of the nostalgic space of Yuexiu Temple Fair has difficulties to exert more substantial influences on the government's ideas and practices,but they still maintain the richness of ideas,and seek expression opportunities to put forward expectations and suggestions.The multiple subjects adopt different construction methods to complete the construction results of the nostalgic material space,nostalgic representation space and nostalgic emotion space of Yuexiu Temple Fair.(2)The interests of the space and the relationship of power subjects determine the positioning of Yuexiu Temple Fair.The political significance carried by Yuexiu Temple Fair hosted by the government is dominant,and the meaning of folk customs is diluted.The belief in the city god is rarely involved in the propaganda discourse of Yuexiu temple fair,and the spiritual connotation of the belief in the city god has been diluted.Yuexiu temple fair meets the nostalgic needs of modern people,but tourists are lack of understanding of the nostalgic implication of space.Finally,we summarize the inspiration that can be extended to the construction of folk festivals nostalgia space: the organizer actively carries out management innovation of festival,and pays attention to the publicizing the festival spiritual connotation,and attaches importance to enhancing tourists' nostalgia experience in folk festivals.
