With the acceleration of the world economic integration process,the cooperation among multinational enterprises is getting closer and closer.As one of the procurement methods of goods,projects and services,international bidding has become the main way of international trade.In accordance with international practice,when procurement is conducted through bidding,the English version of the bidding documents and other materials related to bidding activities shall be available.Therefore,the translation quality of bidding documents plays a vital role in the smooth development of transnational trade.This paper is a translation report based on Nigeria Federal Government’s Bidding Documents for Procurement of Civil Works for Lot 2 – Conversion Works Technical Specifications of the Rehabilitation and Improvement of Bakolori Irrigation Scheme(Chapter 2).Combined with the characteristics of its informative text,the author studies and summarizes the translation process and translation action of the source text with some relevant principles of Functional Equivalence Theory proposed by Eugene A Nida,and puts forward specific translation strategies and methods,which aims to provide the basis for the smooth implementation of bidding activities and provide some references for other scholars in the translation studies of relatedfields.The translation report consists of five chapters: Chapter One is the description of the translation project,including the background and significance of the translation project;Chapter Two is the description of the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation implementation and post-translation revision;Chapter Three is an overview of translation theory,including a brief introduction to Functional Equivalence Theory and its application in translation practice;Chapter Four is case analysis,the author analyzes the specific cases from the lexical level,the syntactic level and the textual level and puts forward corresponding solutions;Chapter Five is the conclusion part,including the gains and reflections as well as the inspiration and prospect for future translation work.
