Under the background of the fourth industrial revolution,China is striving to catch up with the western countries in technological development.English-Chinese(E-C)translation of technical texts will keep China informed of the latest global scientific and technological development and help China absorb advanced foreign scientific achievements. This report is based on E-C translation of journal articles on image processing.Under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence Theory, lexical, syntactical and textual problems in the translation practice are analyzed.Lexical problems include mistranslation of terms and improper translation of common words.Syntactical problems consist of improper translation of passive sentences and nominalization structures. And textual problems involve redundant cohesion and lack of logical coherence. The solutions adopted include diction based on different fields, diction based on collocation, conversion to active forms, conversion to Verbs, conversion to SV,conversion to VO,omission of cohesion and rearrangement of coherence. The report is aimed to provide references for translators or researchers in E-C translation of technical texts in the future.
