Children's literature is an important branch of literature, which affects children's cognition and value. With the development of society, the forms of children's enlightenment education are more diverse than before. With the deepening of the cultural exchanges between China and the rest of the world, more and more attention is paid to the introduction of the children's literature of English-speaking countries to the Chinese children. Therefore,it is urgent for translators to provide the translated versions of them for Chinese children in order to broaden their horizons, and enhance their imagination and aesthetic ability. This paper is based on the author's translation practice of Chapter 5 to Chapter 9of the Canadian children's literature — Awake and Dreaming. It analyzes and summarizes the whole translation process.Based on the Functionalist Skopos theory, this report aims to study the translation methods of children's literature from three aspects: semantics, syntax and discourse.By analyzing some examples, this report focuses on how to choose the translation strategies and methods under the Purpose Principle,Coherence Principle and Fidelity Principle of Skopos Theory, and holds that the domestication strategy should be taken in order to achieve the cohesion and coherence of the text and to make the language and mood close to the target children readers.
