Nowadays,China has shown an unprecedented image of a great country in various areas worldwide,and the cooperation between China and other count ries are also profound.With the popularity of the "Chinese fever" around the world,Chinese teacher volunteers from overseas Confucius Institutes are also increasing year by year.A critical issue has been raised when volunteers are teaching Chinese,how to correctly deal with intercultural differences and successfully complete the process of intercultural adaptation In recent years,more and more researches on volunteers' intercultural adaptation have been made,but most of them focus on Asia countries.The author,as a volunteer in Lulea Confucius Institute in Sweden for ten months from 2018 to 2019,completely traced and recorded her intercultural adaptation experience.Based on the screening and analysis of typical cases,and in combination with interviews with other teachers in the same Confucius Institute,the author chose to reproduce the process of intercultural adaptation experienced by these volunteers and teachers in Lulea Confucius Institute in Sweden from the material,linguistic,behavioristic and psychological aspects.In the meantime,this study explores the characteristics and strategies of intercultural adaptation at various levels,and makes a profound reflection and discussion.This study adopts qualitative research and case study methods,takes the theory of intercultural adaptation research as the research fundamentals,and conducts self-research To reproducing the 10-month living and working experience of myself and a Confucius institute teacher in Sweden,the author utilizes interviews,diaries,observations,and collected data as the raw material.The study have shown that teachers from the Confucius Institute in Lulea,Sweden,are generally better at intercultural adaptation adaptation,and have adopted active adaptation strategies,which have improved their language ability.Although the adaptation at the material and behavior levels is relatively slow,there is no obvious Cultural shock phenomenon.Finally,it is hoped that this study will can provide a reference for future volunteers and fill the gap in the case study of Chinese volunteer teachers in Sweden,so that readers address attention to Chinese teaching in Sweden,and increase the prosperity of intercultural adaptation research society.
