| This translation practice report is guided by Translator’s Subjectivity.The translation material is selected from the first three chapters of Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.The biography is a life story about Meghan Markle,the British princess,published by well-known British author Andrew Morton in April,2018.The book mainly possesses the characteristics of authenticity,literariness and vividness.In the course of translation,the translator strives to convey the accurate meaning,reproduce the style and linguistic features of the source text,and make the translated version conform to the expression habits of Chinese readers.Owing to this,in the premise of respecting the original text,the translator fully displays her subjective initiative as well as creativity,and adopts flexible translation techniques to translate the source text.Based on the theory of Translator’s Subjectivity,the translator analyzes the typical cases in the source text from lexical and syntactic level.At the lexical level,the translator uses translation techniques such as transliteration,conversion,Chinese four-character phrases and annotation.At the syntactic level,the translator translates some sentences in the source text through the adoption of specific translation techniques such as inversion,amplification,division,paraphrasing,etc.Through careful analysis and discussion of typical cases in this biography,it would certainly improve the translator’s translation skills and ability.The translator also hopes that this translation practice can provide the certain reference for future related translation studies of biographical texts at the same time.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 35. |
