English Complex Sentences Translation Strategies

Research methods play a key role in academic findings and novel theories,while new findings rely on translation which serves as the bridge of academic communication.Therefore,the source text of the translation report is Part 1 of the book Understanding Research Methods,which introduces aspects of research methods including definition,experiments and application,authored by Mildred L.Patten and Michelle Newhart.The practice report focuses on complex sentences translation strategies,due to the frequently-used complex sentences in the source text.As complex sentences in the source text are mainly attributive clauses,object clauses and adverbial clauses,the report fully analyzes their translation strategies.For attributive clauses translation,dividing which refers to separation of attributive clauses from the sentences and recasting which means reorganization of the syntactic order in the logics of target language are adopted.For object clauses translation,synchronizing which requires translation in original syntactic order and inserting which means addition of punctuation marks to separate object clauses from the sentences are utilized.For adverbial clauses translation,reversing which requires the translation of adverbial clauses in the first place in a single logic and synchronizing which refers to translation in original syntactic order for clear expressions of multiple logics of sentences are applied.The report is of great guidance to the texts on translation of research methods as it provides detailed demonstrations and explanations of cases.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 48...
