As the global financial markets become interconnected, international finance has become an influential factor affecting the daily lives of people in China.More and more readers have shown solicitude for financial books. It is essential to translate English financial books to meet needs of readers to acquire financial expertise.A qualified translation enables readers to master expertise accurately. The source text of the report is Chapter 6 to Chapter 8 of Money and Monetary Policy in An Open Economy. It's an informative text with accurate, concise, and objective language features. This paper is under the guidance of Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory.Newmark holds that the theory is more suitable for informative text.Translators should focus on information transmission and the response of target readers. This report consists of four chapters: introduction, translation process description, case analysis and conclusion.Case analysis is the core chapter, focusing on the problems and corresponding solutions. On lexical translation, the translator solves problems of translating terms, polysemy, proper nouns and abstract nouns by reading parallel texts and connecting contexts. In the syntactic translation, the translator keeps or removes dashes by analyzing their functions.Passive voice problems are tackled according to habits of recipients. The translator splits and adjusts sentence orders to cope with long sentence problems.Amplification and conjunctions are employed to settle the problem of discourse cohesion and coherence. The translator has improved analytical skills and translation abilities through this practice and has a deeper understanding of communicative translation theory. It is obvious that a qualified translation cannot be achieved without practice and theory. The translator hopes this report will be helpful to translators of financial text.
