The source text is selected from Boy Plunger written by Tom Rubython,a financial biography mainly introducing the business life of a highly talented stock speculator Jesse Livermore. From the perspective of text type, the source text, whose language to a certain extent is professional and informative, belongs to the informative text.Newmark,on the basis of his text typology theory, further proposed semantic translation and communicative translation, and pointed out that communicative translation is applicable to the informational text. Therefore, guided by communicative translation theory and in light of characteristics of the financial biography, this report conducts a case study of the four categories of English postpositive attributives: adjective phrase,non-finite verb, prepositional phrase and attributive clause, and discusses the translation strategies for English postpositive attributives, aiming to improve the translation quality, present to readers a more real character, and to provide more reference for future translation of postpositive attributives in financial biographical texts. This report is composed of five chapters.Chapter One is an introduction to the research background and significance.Chapter Two is a brief introduction to the source text and a description of the whole translation project.Chapter Three is the theoretical framework, expounding communicative translation theory and its applicability to the translation practice, and also introducing postpositive attributives and the relevant researches at home and abroad.Chapter Four, the case study part, conducts an analysis of the translation strategies, including translation into premodifier, translation by using anaphora, division, recasting, class shift, translation into independent clauses and subordinate complex sentences, which are adopted for different categories of the postpositive attributive with specific examples from the perspective of communicative translation. In Chapter Five, the translator makes a summary, including the findings and limitations of this translation report.
