The Influence Of Adult Attachment On Intimate Relationship Satisfaction

Intimate relationship is a theme that everyone could not lives without.Having a good intimate relationship plays an important role in individual psychological health and life growth.How to improve college students' ability to deal with intimate relationships and theirs atisfaction with intimate relationships have attracted a lot of attention in recent years.Many studies have suggested that adult attachment style is closely related to relationship satisfaction.The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships among adult attachment,emotional intelligence,interpersonal efficacy and relationship satisfaction.Taking the Chinese college students as samples,the intimate relationship experience scale(ECR),the self-report scale of emotional intelligence(ESI),the interpersonal communication efficacy scale for college students and the simple intimate relationship satisfaction scale(QRI)were used as research tools.To explore the relationship between adult attachment,interpersonal communication efficacy,emotional intelligence and intimate relationship satisfaction,as well as the mechanism of emotional intelligence and interpersonal communication efficacy between adult attachment and intimate relationship satisfaction,a total of 346 questionnaires were issued and 232 valid que stionnaires were recovered,and the following conclusions were drawn:(1)Adult attachment,emotional intelligence,interpersonal communication efficacy and intimate relationship satisfaction of collegestudents have significant differences in different degrees in such demographic variables as gender,place of enrollment,major,one-child or not,education level,and relationship time.(2)The safety level of adult attachment,emotional intelligence,interpersonal communication efficacy and intimate relationship satisfa-ction of college students are significantly correlated.Adult attachment and its attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance can significantly negatively predict emotional intelligence,interpersonal communication efficacy and intimate relationship satisfaction.Emotional intelligence significantly positively predicted interpersonal efficacy and relationship satisfaction.Interpersonal efficacy significantly positively predicted relationship satisfaction.(3)Interpersonal efficacy plays a partial mediating role in the influence of adult attachment on intimate relationship satisfaction.The total mediating effect accounted for 42.39%.(4)Emotional intelligence plays a moderating role in the first half of the influence of adult attachment on interpersonal relationship efficacy and intimate relationship satisfaction.That is to say,with the improvement of emotional intelligence,the positive prediction degree of secure attachment level to interpersonal communication efficacy significantly increased.With the decrease of emotional intelligence,the influence of secure attachment level on interpersonal communication efficacy is also decreased.
