With reform and opening up in China,the economic exchange and collision between the west and China have played a positive role in China's development process.As a member of modern economy society,we must acquire some knowledge about economy and the changes of global economy situation.The old economic books,however,are not timely for people who concern global economic development.Therefore,the translation of some economic books written recently is a must for translators.The main translation purpose of The Political Economy of the United States,China,and India is to convey the economic situation.The source text is characterized by economic terminologies,long and complex sentences and passive sentences.According to the features of the source text,the translation was made under the guidance of three rules of skopos theory.Combined with examples,the report studies the translation and points out that some skills could be applied like diction,conversion,annotation and addition in words translation,reorganization,division and voice change in sentence translation,conjunction and reference in discourse translation.These skills help the translation to be natural,fluent and readable for target readers.In this report,the author studies the translation based on skopos theory and realizes that only guided by certain translation theory,the readers' requirement could be met much easily.This may reduce the exotic charm of source text which does not influence its main purpose although.The author commands much knowledge about economy and economic translation after this study and also hopes this report could be useful for economic translation in the future.
