The “Production-Oriented Approach”(POA)is a foreign language teaching theory with Chinese characteristic established by professor Wen Qiufang.This theory not only overcomes the disadvantages of "separation of learning and application" in foreign language teaching,but also provides a new idea for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The POA advocates that the output-driven method can stimulate learners' interest in learning,supplemented by input-driven and teacher-student cooperative evaluation,and finally complete the output task and enhance learners' foreign language learning capability.Based on the core theory of the POA,this article analyzes its teaching principles,teaching processes,and implementation steps.It takes first year students of International Business Chinese at Prince of Songkhla University in Thailand as the teaching object for Specific teaching design for the 23 rd lesson of "Boya Chinese I",and lastly summarizes the learner's classroom performance and response,and analyzes the value and problems of the POA method applied to the teaching of comprehensive Chinese language based on the practical results.This paper consists of four parts: The first part is the introduction.It mainly elaborates the significance of the topic selection,the research status of production-oriented approach teaching method at home and abroad,as well as the main research contents and methods.The second part is a brief introduction of POA,mainly introduces POA teaching model and teaching process.The third part is the core of this thesis,which introduces the teaching designs in details with the POA as the theoretical guidance.It also expounds the lesson plan and the concrete teaching flow on discussing the teaching objective,teaching content,teaching difficulties of discussing the lesson “How long have you learned Chinese”.Through the analyzing results of the questionnaire survey and the test,the fourth chapter makes some relevances for this teaching design.In conclusion this chapter puts forward the related suggestion to the following teaching work.
