Significant progress has been made in recent years concerning Suzhi education industries,and more voices can be heard in academic forums and conferences.The 7th Suzhi Education Forum was held on March 30th and 31st in 2018 in Chengdu.The author shouldered part of the consecutive and accompanying interpreting tasks as a volunteer interpreter.In this task,the author undertook both C-E and E-C interpreting,therefore,the report was written in both dimensions.After accomplishing the task,the author tries to analyze her performance and dissect the root of failures or problems from the perspective of Gile's Effort Model.Through reorganization,the author finds that her effort allocation appears to be unreasonable,and the primary target of interpreting is lost when encountering intensive information,knowledge inadequacy,and unfamiliar subjects.Then problems like information losses,inaccurate productions,and illogical deliveries occur.On the base of this,the author attempts to classify these problems into two parts from the point of Comprehension Equation:linguistic knowledge and extralinguistic knowledge,and discuss through examples.Under the guidance of Gile's Effort Model and Comprehension Equation,this report gives an analysis of failures caused by inadequacy in linguistic knowledge and extralinguistic knowledge in different components of Effort Model.Through reviewing,the author realizes:at the linguistic level,an interpreter still needs to accumulate his/her linguistic knowledge in both languages purposefully;and at the extralinguistic knowledge level,an interpreter should focus on the gaining of encyclopedic and cross-cultural knowledge;for efforts,the interpreter has to make targeted training on the basis of one's actual weaknesses and advantages to enhance his/her interpreting competences;at the same time,the interpreter still needs to further generalize effort models according to his/her circumstances and keep strengthening overall qualities,including psychological quality and presentation skills.Moreover,the author intends to set this report as a reference for readers and related interpreting practices in the future.
