The Influence Of Reasoning Content Belief Similarity And Reasoning Criterion On College Students' Romantic Relationship Aggression

Relationship aggression is the act of manipulating or damaging the relationship in order to harm the partner in a relationship,which plays an important role in the relationship.Some studies have found that belief similarity as a situational factor can influence the occurrence of aggression.However,most of the existing research on the measurement of belief similarity adopts the way of attitude proposition and does not involve the field of relational attack.This study,from the perspective of cognitive processing,used the method of inducing belief similarity in reasoning to investigate the influence of content belief similarity in reasoning on the level of romantic relationship aggression between lovers,and tried to investigate whether the influence would be different with different reasoning criteria.The whole study was divided into two experiments:In experiment 1,we investigated the content belief similarity in reasoning and the influence of gender on romantic relationship aggression.Take 2(reasoning content belief similarity: similarity and dissimilarity)× 2(gender;Male/female)experimental design between subjects,the dependent variable is the level of romantic relationship aggression.Found that belief reasoning content similarity and its significant main effect(F(2112)= 13.016,p < 0.01,eta 2 = 0.108),compared to love both sides no similar reasoning content belief,love belief reasoning content subjects under similar conditions between the two sides relationship attack were significantly lower.The gender effect and the interaction between them were not significant.In experiment 2,the influence of reasoning content belief similarity under different reasoning criteria on romantic relationship aggression was investigated.2(reasoning content belief similarity: belief similarity/belief dissimilarity)× 2(reasoning criterion: content/form)was adopted as the experimental design among subjects,and the dependent variable of the experiment was the level of romantic relationship aggression.Results show that main belief reasoning content similarity effect significantly(F(2228)= 9.813,p < 0.01,eta 2 = 0.042),compared to love both sides no similar reasoning content belief,love belief reasoning content subjects under similar conditions between the two sides relationship attack were significantly lower.Reasoning judgement standard main effect significantly(F(2228)= 3.995,p < 0.05,eta 2 = 0.018),when the love both sides against each other in the belief that the similarity of different reasoning judgment,decision criteria based on the form after making judgment based on content have lower levels of relationship of judgement standard levels of relationship.The results showed that,from the perspective of cognitive processing of belief similarity,inference content belief similarity does have an impact on the level of relationship aggression of both parties in love.And the formal reasoning criterion reduces the overall level of romantic aggression,which can effectively reduce the occurrence of romantic aggression.
