In recent years,the improvement of China's comprehensive status has greatly encouraged the increase in the number of Chinese learners in both China and foreign countries,significantly driving the development momentum of learning Chinese.Besides the learning of the daily expressions of Chinese,Chinese learning has also displayed its multi-level needs,among which,business Chinese which serves as a specialized subject,has received the attention from various learners and researchers.The leaning of business Chinese reading can be achieved mainly by reading textbooks,while the reading ability can have an impact on the reading effect.Therefore,a desirable reading ability has become a common pursuit of those learners and workers who work on international business activities.Through reading the textbooks which center on mastering skills,the reading ability of the learners will gradually develop and improve.There is no doubt that,as an important reference book for the learners to master reading skills systematically,the quality of such textbooks can,to some extent,affect the teaching quality of the reading class for business Chinese as well as the learning effect of the learners.The existing textbooks for business Chinese and the research related to this topic center on the comprehensive textbooks,and the study on the specialized textbooks of business Chinese which target at such four skills as “listening”,“speaking”,“reading” and “writing” is relatively lacking.Therefore,taking two specialized reading textbooks for advanced business Chinese,that is,"Erya Chinese-Advanced Business Chinese Reading Course" and "Advanced Business Chinese Reading" which are targeted at different skills for its case analysis,this paper adopts a quantitative analysis and a comparative analysis to comparatively study the similarities and differences of these two textbooks in such aspects as the structure,choice of topics,presentation mode for words as well as the setting of homework,and their strengths and shortcomings.Based on the advantages and disadvantages found on these two textbooks,this paper puts forward with some referential suggestions for the compilation and teaching for the reading textbooks of advanced business Chinese.This paper falls into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of this paper,mainly pointing out the background,purpose,significance,object and method of the research as well as the current situation of the study that is related to business Chinese.The second chapter carries a comparative analysis on the structures and topics on these two textbooks.It compares the similarities and differences in the structures of the two textbooks from five aspects,that is,layout,text,new word,exercise and characteristic section.In terms of the topic,this paper takes Business Chinese Test Syllabus as its reference to figure out the differences of these two textbooks in the topic as well as their advantages and disadvantages through a comparative analysis in such aspects as the number and the content of the topics.The third chapter is the comparative analysis on the vocabulary on these two textbooks.In this chapter,the similarities,differences,advantages and disadvantages of the two textbooks in vocabulary are comparatively analyzed from two aspects,that is,vocabulary writing and vocabulary type setting,based on which,it hopes to explore the issues that should be paid attention to in the compilation and setting of glossary for the reading textbooks of business Chinese.The fourth chapter is to comparatively analyze the exercises on these two textbooks.When comparing and counting the exercises,this paper combines the number and the type of the exercises together to conclude that there are some common exercises and exclusive exercises on "Erya Chinese-Advanced Business Chinese Reading Course" and "Advanced Business Chinese Reading".Besides,this chapter also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of these two textbooks in exercise design by means of specific exercises.The fifth chapter proposes some corresponding suggestions for the compilation and teaching for the reading textbooks of advanced business Chinese.Based on the statistics and comparative analysis on the structure,text topic,vocabulary setting as well as exercise design on the two textbooks in the previous four chapters,this chapter puts forward with some corresponding suggestions for the reading textbooks of advanced business Chinese in their compilation and teaching,hoping to improve the reading skills of Chinese learners both at home and abroad.The sixth chapter summarizes and reflects on the whole paper.
