Oil and gas is an important source of energy for the development of all countries.Since China's accession to the WTO,its oil and gas exchanges with other countries have become more and more frequent.In the process of communication,translation plays a crucial role.Therefore,the market demand for translation in the oil and gas field is gradually increasing,and the translation quality requirements are also gradually improved.This paper takes the scientific and technological text “A Guide to the Physical Simulation Platform of Petroleum and Natural Gas Gathering and Transportation”as the translation material and Nida's functional equivalence theory as the guidance,aiming to explore some translation skills and strategies of scientific and technological texts,especially petrochemical texts.The author has translated the first chapter and the twelfth chapter of this book based on the functional equivalence theory after learning about the relevant processes of oil and gas gathering and transportation through consulting materials and field study.The author has summarized some translation strategies for petrochemical texts after this translation practice.After completing this translation practice,this translation practice report focuses on the analysis of the characteristics of some words and sentence expressions in scientific and technological texts,as well as the guiding role of functional equivalence theory in specific sentence processing.This practice report emphasizes that in the process of translation,the meaning of the source text should be accurately and comprehensively conveyed on the premise of in-depth understanding,so as to ensure the accuracy,comprehensiveness and fluency of the translation.This report alsoputs forward the processing strategies and methods for professional vocabularies and sentences without subject sentences,hoping to provide references for future translation of relevant texts.The text selected for this translation practice is related to petrochemical industry.It is hoped that the improvement of translation level can strengthen the communication of resources among countries and lay a good foundation for the communication among countries in today's increasingly valuable petroleum resources.
