Improving students' reading ability has always been an arduous and urgent task in English teaching.The exploration of English reading teaching methods is becoming more and more diverse,and finding effective methods is very important.There is a lot of research on grammar-translation method,task-based method and English reading teaching both at home and abroad.Under the guidance of constructivism and second language acquisition theory,based on the in-depth study of task-based method,translation method and the characteristics of high school English text under the new curriculum standard,the author found that whether it is the task method or the translation method,a single teaching method has its limitations in the classroom.The author finds that these two teaching methods have complementary advantages,and can use the combination of task method and translation method in English reading teaching,but no scholars have studied the effect of the combination of these two teaching methods in reading teaching,which is also the innovation of this thesis.This paper aims to study the combined application of task-based method and grammar-translation method in high school English reading teaching,its fundamental purpose is to solve the following problems:(1)How does the combination of task-based method and translation method affect students' English reading attitudes?(2)How does the combination of task-based method and translation method affect students' English reading strategies?(3)How does the combination of task-based method and translation method improve students' reading ability?The experimental class obviously prefers the teaching method that combines the task method and the translation method.The combination of these two teaching methods is effective for English reading teaching in high school.It can meet the new curriculum standards,the need of the present age,and the characteristics of senior high school students.It can help improve students' learning attitudes,improve their reading ability,learning efficiency,and learning strategies.But the application of the two teaching methods in English reading teaching still has many other problems that need further study.The author has put forward some suggestions for teachers,and the majority of educators should also continue to explore to make the combination and application of these two or even multiple teaching methods more perfect.
