| This practice report is based on the author's interpreting task of“Golden Creativity Award Global Exhibition Tour and International Designers Forum:Shenyang Station”.On October 17th,2018,entrusted by the School of Foreign Languages,Shenyang Normal University,the author provided three-hour interpreting service for an Italian designer,Davide Conti.The content of the practice was the interpreting of an interview and an interior design lecture.This activity required that the author should have relevant knowledge of interior design and related interpreting strategies.In the interpreting process,the author was confronted with such problems as sentence clusters,loose logical connection and redundancy,which brought challenges and burdens to the author.Through analyzing the transcript of the interpreting practice,in accordance with the characteristics of this interpreting activity,the author chooses the stage of deverbalization in the Interpretive Theory and analyzes strategies of information processing in this stage.When interpreting,the author conveyed the meaning of the speaker rather than the form of the source language.The author applied three interpreting strategies,including paraphrase,restructuring and compression,in order to solve the problems encountered in the interpreting process.Through paraphrase,the author restated the source language to deal with information loss in sentence clusters.Sentences with loose logical connection were dealt with restructuring.And redundant sentences were clearer and simpler by using compression.By using these strategies,the meaning of the source language was conveyed more accurately and concisely,and the barriers of language transmission were eliminated so that the interpreting was more fluent.Finally,the author elaborates that in the stage of deverbalization,interpreters should choose proper strategies of information processing to achieve effective communication between the speaker and the audience. |
