A Study Of The "Gong De" Etiquette And Custom In Thai Society

Thai people have always attached great importance to the funeral ceremony,The“Gong De” etiquette and custom in Thai society has a long history,is one of the traditional Chinese funeral customs and culture in Thailand.With the introduction of Chinese migration to Thailand,it merged with Thai social culture,carried out cultural adjustment,integrated into Thai cultural factors,produced cultural changes,inherited in Thai society to this day,and became a cultural phenomenon in Thai society.Nowadays,the main groups inheriting the “Gong De” etiquette and custom in Thai society are Thai Chinese,Chinese Americans,Thai Royal Family,Thai natives and so on.According to statistics,17 members of the royal family in Thailand used merit ceremony in their funerals,more representative of which are Lama III,Lama V,Lama IX and so on.the “Gong De” etiquette and custom has a certain influence in Thai society,and has a certain impact on Thai funeral custom and culture.The study of the“Gong De” etiquette and custom in Thailand is very active,and the research results of Thai scholars on merit etiquette and custom are relatively rich.According to the author's experience of studying and living in Thailand,that is,fieldwork experience,many Thais know that the word “Gong De” is mainly a funeral ritual used by Chinese Thais to cross over the deceased.The author research the “Gong De” etiquette and custom as the object of study,from the merit etiquette in the Thai society in the origin,formation,and status of finishing the merits etiquette in Thai society development context.On the basis of literature research and field investigation cases,this thesis combs the ritual process and characteristics of the “Gong De” etiquette and custom,analyses the characteristics and causes of the changes of the “Gong De” etiquette and custom in Thailand,and the cultural function of the “Gong De” etiquette and custom in Thai society.From the specific structure,this paper is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction,which explains the background of the topic,the purpose and significance of the research,the research summary,the research theory and research methods;The second part introduces the general situation of Gongde etiquette and customs in Thailand society,defines the concept of Gongde etiquette and customs,and arranges the ritual process and ritual links of Gong-de etiquette.The third part combs the origin and formation of Gongde in Thailand.In the fourth part,the author sorts out the groups of inheriting Gongde and the current situation of its developmentin Thailand,and then analyzes the reasons for the development of Gongde in Thailand and the reasons and characteristics of its changes in Thailand.The fifth part analyzes the cultural function of merit and morality in Thai society;The last part is a summary of the full text.
