An English-Chinese Translation Report On My Beautiful Struggle(Chapters 2-4)

This English to Chinese practice report consist of the original text,translation,translation difficulties and translation strategies.The original text is excerpted from the novel of My Beautiful Struggle.This novel is written by American writer Jordan who is a 15-year-old girl with optimism and positive energy.Her life is full of happiness because she has a happy family and has many close friends.But unfortunately,the young original author suffered a car accident.The novel compares the changes of the original author before and after the car accident and describes the changes of her attitude towards life.In addition,the original author's optimism in the face of difficulties conveys a positive energy to the readers.This is also the main reason why the translator chooses this novel.So far,there is no Chinese translation version of the novel.The translator translated two to four chapters of the novel My Beautiful Struggle under the principle of translation shift.In addition,the translator used many translation methods to solve the translation difficulties encountered in the translation process.This practical report first introduces the significance and structure of the report,and then analyzes the writing style and content of the original text briefly.Chapter three and Chapter four present the translation difficulties encountered by the translator in the process of translation and the translation methods from the perspective of translation shift respectively.The practice report describes translation difficulties and methods mainly including lexical level and syntactic level.At the lexical level,the translator adopts the methods of amplification,conversion and semantic extension.At the syntactic level,the translator adopts the methods of division and turning phrase into clause.Through this translation practice,the translator learned how to translate a novel using a variety of translation methods,and also learned how to present the background culture to the readers in the process of translation.Therefore,the translator should translate the original text on the basis of understanding the original text's language culture and reader's reading habits.Only in this way can a goodtranslation be presented to the readers.
