The Application Of The Supplementary Strategy Under The Guidance Of Adaptation Theory In Chinese-English Alternating Interpretation

As one form of interpretation,consecutive interpreting is widely applied in various fields.Addition,a flexible strategy frequently used in consecutive interpreting,plays the role in supplementing semantics and optimizing language structure so as to make the target language more complete and accurate.On the basis of adaptation theory,this thesis studies addition strategy in Chinese-English consecutive interpreting based on Premier Li's and Foreign Minister Wang Yi's meeting at the press in 2016.Firstly,this thesis makes brief introduction to the source and content of adaptation theory,and its application in interpreting.Secondly,this thesis expounds the definition of addition strategy,and puts forward the necessity of the addition strategy applying to the consecutive interpreting on the basis of the differences between China and western countries in vocabulary,sentence structure,and political and cultural background.Finally,building on Premier Li's and Foreign Minister Wang Yi's meeting at the press in 2016,this thesis,with the concrete examples in the conference,reports addition strategy used in Chinese-English consecutive interpreting from the perspective of linguistic additions and extra-linguistic additions.The author hopes this thesis will help other interpreters cultivate addition consciousness in the process of interpreting and improve interpreters' ability in the future.
