The Analysis On The Errors Of Chinese Characters Writing Of Sri Lanka Students

Learning Chinese characters is always a hard work for foreign students,and also how to teach Chinese characters well.In recent years,teaching of Chinese characters for foreign students has become the consensus Profession.One of the most critical issues for foreign students is how to improve the writing Chinese character's efficiency and how to improve the Chinese language teaching as the second Language teaching profession has become a research hotspot.At present,there is an excellent relationship between China and Sri L anka.This has created number of opportunities for two countries and as a result of it,more and more Sri Lankan students start learning Chinese Language.There are enormous differences between Chinese language and Sinhalese(mother tongue of Sri Lanka)language.This is the main reason for the difficulty for Sri Lankan students to learn Chinese.There are very few researches have been done on Chinese language in Sri Lanka.This paper mainly focuses on common errors in Chinese characters written by Sri Lanka students.The research study has undertaken by collecting written assignments and home works of the students who are learning at University of Kelaniya and Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.The author points out three main errors occurred when Sri Lankan students are writing Chinese characters: stroke errors,structural errors and component errors.The main problem of errors in writing Chinese character of Sri Lankan students are combined with the negative transfer of mother tongue,learners' learni ng attitude and motivation,learners' learning strategies and ways of thinking,characteristic of Chinese characters,teaching methods including influence of textbooks.Finally the research article will provide some precious suggestion and Chinese characters teaching methods to reduce their errors and improve their learning Chinese characters efficiency and interestingly.Hopefully,this paper will facilitate a better development of Chinese language in Sri Lanka.
